Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies successfully organized the 2016 DOLE Research Conference with the theme “Clearing Pathways for Decent Work,” last December 15-16 at the Diamond Hotel, at Roxas Blvd, Manila.

In August 2015, employees of the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) planted four hundred (400) Pitogo and Bitaog seedlings to reforest an 11-hectare beachfront in Brgy. Reserva, Baler, Aurora. In its December 2016 on-site visit of the tree planting project, the ILS validation team observed that about eighty-five percent (85%) of the planted seedlings have survived and are now thriving. This was confirmed by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Community Environment and Natural Resources Extension Office – Aurora (DENR CENRO-Aurora).

Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies hosted the Human Resource Development (HRD) Roadmap consultation meeting for 2016 last December 21, at the Hotel Jen, Roxas Boulevard, Manila.

Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies retains its ISO 9001:2008 Certification for 2016 after it passed its first surveillance audit conducted by Ms. Merian Domingo of AJA Registrars, Inc. last December 6 at the ILS Office.

Tasked as the policy research and advocacy arm of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) as articulated in Section 3 of DOLE Executive Order No. 251, the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) reports that for 2016, it was able to produce researches anchored on Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre H. Bello’s 8-Point Labor and Employment Agenda, and aligned with the Department’s goal “to have responsive, enabling, and equitable labor policies, laws, and regulations.”
