On 04 June 2018, the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) received a Certificate of Attestation from certifying body AJA Registrars for immediate recommendation to ISO 9001:2015 certification, three days after the said body’s audit assessment.

“This ISO 9001:2015 certification is just a starting point and reflects ILS’ culture of quality work ethics in delivering public service,” remarked by Acting Executive Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin-Satumba.

On June 4, 2018, the Memorandum of Cooperation between Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES)-Philippines and the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) for the ILS Gender and Development research on women in trade unions was signed at the FES office in Discovery Centre, Ortigas, Pasig City.

Last May 26, 2018, the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) organized a validation presentation and consultation forum for its research “Policy Analysis on the Issuance of Work Permit for Children in the Theater Industry based on Republic Act 9231” in Hotel Jen, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.

The research by Tecelyn B. Maramag was aimed at assessing the relevance of RA 9231 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations under DO 65-04 relative to the prescribed working hours for children engaged in the theater industry.

Last May 21, 2018, the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) attended the meeting of the National Child Labor Committee (NCLC) Knowledge and Advocacy Sub-Committee meeting hosted by the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC) at the Federation of Free Workers Bldg. in Malate, Manila.

Last May 15, 2018, Department  for Labor and Employment (DOLE) Undersecretary Ciriaco A. Lagunzad, newly-designated as the Undersecretary for Employment and Policy Support of DOLE, visited the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) and shared his wisdom and suggestions on influencing labor and employment policies and in honing their policy development strategies at the ILS iLearn conference room in Intramuros Manila
