Manila - The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) marked its 37th Anniversary with the successful completion of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System recertification audit by representatives from the SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, Inc. on July 15, at the ILS Office, Intramuros, Manila.

The audit began with the opening meeting attended by ILS Executive Director Jeanette T. Damo, process owners, and SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, Inc. In her opening remarks, Executive Director Damo emphasized the importance of the recertification audit to improve the Institute’s processes and services in a specialized field, such as policy research. She also noted that the conducted external audit was her first time as the head of the agency.

All 19 processes specializing in labor and employment research were covered during the External Audit, namely: (1) Management Review, (2) Annual Planning, (3) Annual Budget Preparation, (4) Understanding the Context of the Organization, (5) Risks and Opportunities Management, (6) Conduct of Research (COR), (7) Technical Advisory Support (TAS), (8) Conduct of Development Event Process, (9) Publication Process, (10) Control of Documented Information (CDI), (11) Recruitment, Selection, and Placement (RSP), (12) Training and Development, (13) Performance Management, (14) Preventive Maintenance, (15) Corrective Maintenance, (16) Procurement of Goods & Services, (17) Supplier Evaluation, (18) Disbursement, (19) Customer Satisfaction Measurement (CSM). The Internal Audit was also audited to assess the conformance to the Guidelines on Auditing the Management System based on ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 19011:2018.

During the closing meeting, SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, Inc. composed of Lead Auditor Billy Joel Sadangsal, and Support Auditors Marisse Cruz, Mark Allan Balbarino, and Anna Manlangit, concluded that ILS has no major non-conformity findings and recognized the Institute’s “acceptable implementation of the certification requirements outlined within the framework of the International Standard.”

The Institute awaits the formal recertification report from SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, Inc. The 2nd Internal Audit is scheduled in the 4th Quarter to monitor and evaluate the progress of the Institute based on the results of the external audit conducted.
