DAVAO CITY – Researchers from the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) continues their data collection activities for the ongoing study on women’s economic participation in childcare facilities, held from 28 to 30 May 2025 in Davao City.

The study aims to examine how select childcare facilities, services, and good practices enable women's economic participation and empowerment. It also aims to identify challenges affecting women’s economic activity and labor force participation.

ILS researchers, led by Senior Labor and Employment Officer Michelle Ann A. Ruiz, along with team members Marcos S. Ursua and Diether B. Navarosa, conducted focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and a survey with representatives from the local government unit, childcare workers and parents, and women's organizations.

The study is one of the eight ongoing research studies of the Institute which is set to be presented at the 14th DOLE Research Conference in October 2025.
